Photographing people at parties? Make sure everyone has a glass in their hand, even if it’s only water. It will give them something to do with their hands and make them look more relaxed. Get the person at each end of the group to turn in slightly. Set your camera to rapid fire. Take two photos in quick succession, which will give you a better chance of capturing an image where no one has blinked. What I usually do at this point is look at the camera monitor, frown slightly and say, “OK, now let’s have one where everybody SMILES”. This will usually get a laugh. Be ready to catch this with two more frames, and you’ll have at least one good image of everyone enjoying themselves
